I have been in solo private practice since 2000. I am a generalist and work with mostly adult patients of all stages in life who have a wide range of concerns and struggles, including depression, anxiety, and relational conflicts. My orientation is psychodynamic, humanistic and I was trained in psychodynamic theories and psychoanalytic concepts.
I also specialize in psychological testing, with a focus on assessing for memory loss and providing sensitive, down to earth feedback.
I completed my doctoral work in Clinical Psychology from the Illinois School of Professional Psychology (APA accredited). I held externship and internships in diverse settings, including a community outpatient treatment center, college counseling center, inpatient hospital, and federal correctional center.
Prior to full time private practice, I worked as a clinical psychologist and Training Director at the Child Guidance Clinic, DC Superior Court, evaluating children and parents, supervising graduate student externs and interns, providing direction for the training program (including gaining its APA accreditation).
Before my career as a psychologist, I graduated from law school (Washington College of Law, American University) and was a practicing attorney; my legal work began as a law clerk for a federal district judge in Birmingham, Alabama, and then I spent most of my years prosecuting child neglect cases in Family Court of the District of Columbia. I have found that the analytical thinking in law has nicely translated to the attentiveness and understanding inherent in psychodynamic work.
